### Frequently Asked Questions
#### What is unclaimed property and why did you receive this letter?
Unclaimed property (funds) come in many forms: uncashed checks or customer account balances such as an escrow surplus or payoff overage. If the unclaimed funds are not returned to the rightful owner (you), we must turn it over to the state. Before doing so, we must attempt to reach out to you in order to attempt to reunite the money with you.
#### I believe I have received this letter in error. What now?
No further action is necessary. For instance, if you are not the individual listed on the letter, you may disregard the letter. We may have an incorrect or outdated address for the correct owner. The funds will be turned over to the state as unclaimed property.
#### How do I respond to the letter?
To claim these funds, submit your request online at [www.GatewayFirst.com/ClaimFunds](www.GatewayFirst.com/ClaimFunds). You may also fill out the bottom portion of the front side of this letter as directed. If your letter is not received by the deadline, you will need to claim your funds with the state. There is no fee to claim these funds**.**
#### What if the response deadline has passed?
Unfortunately, we are unable to accept responses after the indicated deadline**. **However, you will still be able to claim the funds directly from the state. Please visit your state’s unclaimed property website or [www.missingmoney.com](https://missingmoney.com/) for further information. After the indicated response deadline, all future questions and claims must be submitted to your state’s unclaimed property department.
#### How will I know if you received my response?
If we received your response by the deadline indicated on the letter, you will receive a replacement check. Due to the volume of claims received, we will not send any confirmation or notification to you indicating that your response was received. Please note that once your response is received, it may take up to 60 days for you to receive your check.
#### I have waited 60 days and have yet to receive my replacement check. What do I do?
Occasionally, it may take longer than this, but if it has been more than 60 days since you’ve submitted your claim and you would like to follow up, please contact us by e-mail at [CustomerCare@GatewayLoan.com](mailto:CustomerCare@GatewayLoan.com)** **In your email, please provide the following information to help us research your claim:

1. Name
2. Loan number
3. Check number
4. Dollar amount of the check
#### What if the property owner is deceased?
In this case, a replacement check will be made payable to the “Estate” of the original owner. If you would like to continue with making a claim, please provide a copy of the original owner’s death certificate and indicate that you would like the new check to be made out to the owner’s estate. If you do not wish to claim these funds on behalf of the deceased owner, no further action is required. The funds will be turned over to the state as unclaimed property.
#### What if my name or address has changed?
If your address has changed, please indicate your new address in your response. If your name has changed, please let us know at [CustomerCare@GatewayLoan.com](mailto:CustomerCare@GatewayLoan.com) and provide a copy of the documentation showing the name change (e.g., marriage certificate, official court order, etc.).
