Conan Lane serves as President, Business Services at Gateway, where he is responsible for launching and leading a national payments division. He brings more than 30 years of executive leadership experience across FinTech, payments, financial services, and other regulated industries, guiding organizations through growth, transformation, and operational change.
Throughout his career, Conan has held C‑level and senior leadership positions at both public and private organizations across for‑profit, non‑profit, banking, healthcare, and government sectors. He has served as Board Chairman, Board Director, President, COO, CHRO, and Controller, with oversight of enterprise‑wide functions including operations, human resources, finance and accounting, sales, credit and risk management, legal, IT, product, and marketing. He has also served as a liaison to banking unit regulatory agencies, including the OCC and DOJ.
Conan has extensive experience scaling organizations from startup through maturity, including serving as an executive at a public company acquired for $4.3 billion. His leadership includes managing budgets exceeding $100 million, leading large‑scale teams supporting hundreds of thousands of locations, and overseeing payment environments with annual processing volume exceeding $100 billion. His background also includes major mergers and acquisitions, portfolio conversions, and enterprise‑wide initiatives focused on operational excellence, efficiency, and strategic partner management.
Most recently, Conan served as Owner and President of xCALiber Services, L.L.C., where he advised private equity firms, law firms, and operating companies on due diligence, valuation, business strategy, and change management. In this role, he also served as a FinTech and payments expert witness in complex federal litigation.
Conan holds a bachelor’s degree in accounting from the University of Toledo and maintains a Professional in Human Resources (PHR) certification.
