Boys & Girls Club of Norman Receives Boost in Summer Learning Programs

Norman, Okla., June 22, 2018 – Gateway Mortgage Group, founded by Kevin Stitt, donated $5,000 to the Center for Children and Families to expand the BGCN’s educational programs. School is out for the summer. And the Boys & Girls Club of Norman (BGCN) at the Center for Children and Families wants to provide educational activities so students don’t lose the knowledge they gained during the school year.

“We are thrilled about Gateway’s donation that will strengthen our summer learning opportunities,” said Vernon Hooks, unit director of BGCN. “We depend on community support from companies like Gateway to help us provide Norman’s children with the programs they need to succeed.”

Gateway’s donation will support the BGCN’s innovative and creative programming by enabling the club to purchase additional materials for academic enrichment programs, STEM activities and educational games.

Chris Doke, manager at Gateway’s Norman Mortgage Center, said the company focuses on giving to organizations where it can have the greatest impact.

“The Boys & Girls Club of Norman develops children’s social skills and provides tools for academic success,” Doke said. “Gateway is committed to supporting organizations which enrich our communities and nurture tomorrow’s leaders.”

Gateway Mortgage Group announced its “Gateway Gives Back” program earlier this year. The company pledged to reinvest $275 million in communities throughout Oklahoma within the next five years. The program will focus on providing mortgage financing in low- to moderate-income communities while partnering with nonprofits that support community development and strengthen families.
