STILLWATER, Okla., Jan. 11, 2019 – The Stillwater Mortgage Center of Gateway Mortgage Group, a full-service mortgage company licensed in 40 states and the District of Columbia, will donate a total of $12,500 to four local nonprofits as its charities of choice.

Gateway made the donations through the company’s annual Charity Challenge to support children with special needs and help the community combat domestic violence, a lack of medical care access and education funding. The funds will be distributed to Night to Shine Stillwater, the Stillwater Domestic Violence Service, Inc. doing business as Wings of Hope Family Crisis Services, the Stillwater Community Health Center and the Stillwater Public Education Foundation (SPEF).

“We have so many outstanding nonprofits in our community, it was hard to pick just one,” said Michael Decker, location manager of Gateway’s Stillwater Mortgage Center. “Gateway wants to strengthen families, and the organizations we chose empower the people of Stillwater to overcome challenges and make a better future for everyone.”

The SPEF provides programming, classroom equipment and education opportunities that otherwise would not be available to the students of Stillwater Public Schools. The nonprofit was started in 1984 to deal with the financial difficulties facing public education.

Collett Campbell, SPEF president, said the $5,000 donation will help fund hands-on learning activities and other initiatives, such as research for libraries and the Adopt-an-Author reading and writing program.

“Community support from companies like Gateway allows us to continue providing the superior education Stillwater is known for,” Campbell said. “We are grateful for this generous donation and are excited to see it positively impact our town’s most precious asset – our children.”

Gateway’s Charity Challenge rewards the highest-ranking Mortgage Centers in several key performance metrics by giving donations to nonprofits of their choice. This year, four Mortgage Centers received the honor: Ada, Oklahoma; Stillwater, Oklahoma; McPherson, Kansas; and Matagorda, Texas. The Mortgage Centers will donate a total of $30,000 to support multiple nonprofits, including homeless shelters, food pantries, organizations dedicated to ending poverty and after-school programs.
